Liliana Cardemil – Premio Tito Ureta 2019 – expositora confirmada para reunión anual de la Sociedad de Bioquímica y Biología Molecular de Chile

Liliana Cardemil is currently a Full Professor at the Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de Chile. She works in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Plants. Liliana received the Doctorate Degree at Plant Research Laboratory at Michigan State University in 1975. During her academic career, she was Visiting Professor at Michigan State University working in the Laboratory of Dr. Peter Wolk, in the Department of Biology at Washington University, St. Louis Missouri working with Dr. Joseph Varner, and at the CSIC, Barcelona, with Dr.Pere Puidomenich. In her academic life, Liliana has investigated the biochemistry and the genes encoding different enzymes, which make plants resistant to different environmental stresses. Among the plants studied are, Araucaria araucanaProsopis sp. and recently Aloe vera. Liliana was the first President of the Sociedad de Botánica de Chile and promoted the creation of La Red Latinoamericana de Botánica (RLB) for the development of the Plant Sciences in Latino America.
