SBBM Chile history

The society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Chile promotes research, both theoretical and experimental, which lead to the progress and dissemination of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Chile also promotes initiatives aimed at the optimization of the science for the benefit of the Chilean

In 1974, Dr. Hernann Niemeyer, Dr. Marco Perreta, Dr. Lylian Clark, Dr. Enrique Beytía, Dr. Arnaldo Foradori and Dr. Arturo Yudelevich signed the document that it gave legal status to the society of Biochemistry and biology MOLECULAR DE CHILE. Later, in 1977, the first annual meeting was held.

Today, the society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Chile has more than 150 members; researchers from different Chilean and foreign universities. Members of the society, with his enthusiasm and dedication to scientific activity constitute the body and soul of this society.

This web page aims to be a means of communication between members of the society and these with Chilean society in general. Here, the management of the society and also news about scientific meetings and other information will be disseminated.

The Dr. Tito Ureta (President), Dr. Jorge Allende, Dr. Luis Izquierdo and Dr. Victoria Guixé integrated the editor Committee of this book.

The launching ceremony was held on January 14, 1993 at the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Chile and the speech was conducted by Dr. Jorge Allende.

Also established the Prize medal Hermann Niemeyer surrendered annually to an outstanding student of Ph.d. programs in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and other related areas.

The first medal Hermann Niemeyer was delivered at the book launch ceremony Hermann Niemeyer and science in Chile and the Committee responsible for selecting the winner was composed of DRS. M. Krauskopf, J. Allende, Hidalgo C., M. Sapag and R. Vicuña.
