Researchers add more than a thousand PCR exams conducted, tested corpses and new developments to deal with the pandemic

Four laboratories of the Virology Program of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBM) of the Faculty of Medicine, work full-time in the conduct of diagnostic tests of PCRs from the North Metropolitan Health Service and the Legal Medical Service. With a processing capacity of 150 tests per day, the team estimates that it could double this capacity in the coming months. Alongside the diagnostics, a team from the same unit works on research and development projects linked to the virus, including a new testing kit that would allow the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza and syncycial viruses.
