ADVANCES IN THE GENERATION OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED (GM) ANIMAL MODELS
September 7th to 18th, 2015
Institut Pasteur de Montevideo
Montevideo, Uruguay.
&

International Mini Symposium:
TRANSGENIC TECHNOLOGIES: THE LATEST TRENDS
September 11th and 12th, 2015
Institut Pasteur de Montevideo
Montevideo, Uruguay.

The aim is to offer a training course of excellence for researchers and technicians working in animal transgenic field. The topics will be focused on both the basic knowledge and the latest advances in transgenic technologies. The COURSE consists of a 1st week of lectures sessions and a 2nd week of practical sessions, only limited to 20 students selected by their qualifications. In addition, a MINI SYMPOSIUM is organized during 2 days in order to extend the presence of the professors to other researchers, technicians and postgraduate students.

OBJECTIVES:
•    To provide an integrated and updated view of animal transgenic technologies.
•    To incorporate basic and applied concepts for modification of the animal genome.
•    To provide hands-on training on transgenic techniques.
•    To encourage discussion and positive future collaborations among the participants.

The major topics to be addressed are:
•    Different approaches to generate GM animal models in murine and farm animals (pronuclear microinjection, ES cells blastocyst microinjection, lentiviral technologies, SCNT, Transposons, ZFN, TALEN, CRISPR/Cas9 system).
•    Zebrafish genome modification.
•    in vitro embryo production.
•    Embryo, oocyte and sperm cryopreservation.

ORGANIZERS:
Martina Crispo – Unidad de Animales Transgénicos y de experimentación – Institut Pasteur de Montevideo (IPMon), Uruguay
Alejo Menchaca – Instituto de Reproducción Animal de Uruguay (IRAUY), Montevideo, Uruguay
