Scientists find clues to the maternal instinct

Oxytocin is known as the hormone of love, and is important in the regulation of social and maternal behavior. System of oxytocin in the brain may be the key to new treatments for many mental health disorders, including postpartum depression. A biologist has discovered a group of cells that are activated by oxytocin in an area of the brains of female mice that are not present in the same area in the brains of mice males.
