Les I am writing to cordially invite you to a seminar that will be held the dayWednesday, January 17 at 14:30 hrsin theAuditorium Mario Caiozzithe Faculty of chemical sciences and pharmaceutical of the University of Chile.
The title of the presentation is"Molecular mechanisms of Autophagy and its implication on rare diseases"and will be in charge of theDr. Ricardo Escalanteresearcher holder of the Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas Alberto Sols (CSIC-UAM).
For years, Dr. Escalante and his group have been widely used model ofDictyostelium discoideumin biomedical research. His current research line corresponds to the identification and functional characterization of novel proteins involved in the process of Autophagy in this experimental model, as well as in human cells grown in vitro. The seminar will discuss the origin of autophagosomes VMP1 protein function and the role in Autophagy protein VPS13A, involved in a rare so-called "Korea-Acanthocyte" disease. The results presented are based on studies carried out in D. discoideum and cells HeLa and Cos7.
