Luis Larrondo, president of SBBM is elected to join the American academy of microbiology.

Washington, DC – February 19, 2020 –In February, theAmerican Academy of Microbiology(Academy) chose 68 new members for the Class of 2020. Members of the American Academy of Microbiology, an honorary leadership group within the ASM, are elected annually through a highly selective peer review process, based on their records of scientific achievements and contributions originals that have advanced microbiology. The Academy received 118 nominations this year and accepted 58% of the nominees.

There are more than 2,500 fellows in the Academy representing all subspecialties of the microbial sciences and participate in basic and applied research, teaching, public health, industry and government service. In addition, the fellows come from all over the world. The 2020 Class represents fellows from 11 different countries, including Australia, Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
