Sensitive death of Dr Maria Imschenetzky Popov
Dear members:
With sadness we communicate to you the sensitive passing of Dr. Maria Imschenetzky Popov yesterday. Dr. Imschenetzky, who in 2013 was appointed professor emeritus of the University of Concepción, will be remembered with affection and admiration for our society as well as for whom her colleagues, students, friends and close friends were. Dr. Imschenetzky was noted for her great academic and scientific contribution, as evidenced by several awards and recognitions, such as the Municipal Prize in Sciences of the Illustrious Municipality of Concepción in 2001. He also stood out for his dedication to various activities, among which he was also part of the SBBMCh's board between 1997-1998. Alongside all this, highlighting her human side with a special charisma, an innate leader capable of motivating and guiding her students and colleagues, which resulted in the academic training of dozen successful scientists, many of them members of our Society. Undoubtedly a complete scientist who managed to stand out at an age where female visibility was not so common, consecrated as the person who instituted molecular biology at the University of Concepción. In these hard times we send our condolences and affection to his family and closer ones.
