The Centro de Biotecnología de Vegetal of the Universidad Andrés Bello is hiring a bioinformatician to work on DNA sequencing of native Chilean species using third- generation sequencing technologies
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification: B.S./B.Eng. with M.Sc/Postgraduate training in Bioinformatics;
- Working experience with, or demonstrable knowledge of, open source bioinformatics analysis tools (R and python/perl…) applied to genomics and high throughput omics
- English required;
- High level of proactivity and good communication skills;
Desired experience and skills:
- Experience with PACBIO third-generation sequencing data;
- Experience with cloud computing;
- Knowledge in data science areas such as machine learning, integrative multivariate analysis, network analysis and visualization;
- De novo DNA sequencing;
- Expertise in the implementation of bioinformatics workflows and pipelines using cluster
Main responsibilities:
The candidate will provide bioinformatics services to the research groups, including:
- Analysis of bioinformatics NGS and other high throughput omics data, including the development and improvement of in-house bioinformatics workflows and pipelines for these
- Advice for the experimental design and planning of research projects involving bioinformatics, and
- Support in the communication of scientific results of these
