Charla en Cs Biológicas Pontificia Univ Católica (Sala Abate Molina, Casa Central) (Metro UC) Jueves 7 Abril a las 12h
· General concepts: Need to understand biology in a more quantitative way. Increasing our understanding helps us to engineer in a more robust way. But also, attempting to engineer can teach us about fundamental design principles.
· Introduction to my previous work in plant biology on plant circadian rhythms, flowering time, and a theoretical study.
· Why is Microsoft interested in Biology, and what do we do at MSRC? Understanding biology (stem cells, immunology) through to programming biology (synthetic biology, DNA computing)
· Brief overview of interests in synthetic biology..
· Detailed example of implementing the approximate majority algorithm in DNA.

Charla en Centro de Innovación UC (Sala 201), San Joaquin (Metro San Joaquin), Jueves 7 Abril a las 17h
· General concepts: Domain-specific programming languages for biology. i.e. DNA strand displacement, GEC.
Mathematical modelling and Bayesian parameter inference.
· Example 1. Implementing algorithms in DNA
· Example 2. Programming spatio-temporal behaviours in cells
· Discussion of future plans. Quantitative properties of biological components has been important for engineering non-biological systems. We need systems that integrate models with data.
