CONICYT begins process of election of student representatives to the Cosoc

The institution opened the call to select two new counselors, seats that were vacant after the election that is held in July.

This year 2017 was established the Council of the Civil society (C.O.S.O.C.) of CONICYT, which was comprised of representatives from different organizations, with the Mission of supporting the institution in the relationship with the community. However, two squares of this community were left vacant, since sufficient candidates there were quotas for categories of "graduate students from accredited universities" and "accredited universities undergraduate students" .

Includes a period of broadcasting and registration of candidacies for two weeks, then make the votes for five days. All students belonging to one of the two categories and which represent any formal organization of the University may register.

On this subject, Cristian Sandoval, CONICYT COSOC counselor, as a graduate of an accredited college or university student, said: "belonging to the COSOC has allowed me to learn more about the functioning of CONICYT. Many times, one as a researcher criticizes the institution due to the lack of resources and delay in the time of response to requests. However, it is necessary to understand its overall performance, in order to understand where its flaws and at the same time, its virtues are. As a representative of graduate from accredited universities, I feel a great responsibility, but also a great commitment to work and participate in the guidelines the COSOC deems. I know that we will have good results at the end of our period."

Both the registration of candidates, and the vote will be housed in the voting system which CONICYT is available on its web site.

The formation of Councils of the Civil society seeks to create instances of rapprochement between the institution and the target groups of public policies, in order to adjust the implemented measures to their requirements and needs and be able to act jointly.
