Chilean engineer is selected among the 50 best science sub 40 world
The academic Daniel Hurtado created a mathematical model to study attacks the heart and lung diseases, and was featured in this category for his contribution to the advancement of the frontiers of science and technology.
The academician of Engineering from the Catholic University (UC), Daniel HurtadoIt was selected among the 50 best science sub 40 internationally by the World Economic Forum, in the prelude to your next appointment scheduled from 17 to 20 September in Tianjin, China.
The nomination of the Chilean engineer, who is also a researcher at the Institute of medical and biological engineering from UC, was presented by the main partners of the Forum, which annually brings together young scientific minds more avant-garde and advanced in the world.
Scientific and technological contributions of Daniel Hurtado, amongthe first mathematical modeling of a virtual heart in Chileto better understand the operation of this body and cardiovascular disease, which is one of the leading causes of death in the country.
Together with a medical team of UC and Hospital El Carmen de Maipú, interdisciplinary work that also promotes engineering 2030 of CORFO, the investigator program lidero the development of a digital platform intended to reduce lung damage, in cases of critical patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in intensive care units.
Another contribution of the engineer, was the design of an electronic device that monitors the flow of the Airways artificial, alerting immediately when the patient can not breathe normally. Innovation was also featured in Silicon Valley to help the health of children with tracheostomy.
The recognition of the world economic forum to young scientists, less than 40 years, not only appreciates their contributions to the advancement of the frontiers of science and technology, also provides support to projects through their networks of academic, policy, and business.
Selected professors from UC, also include the Mexican physicist Juan Pedro Ochoa, of the Institute of physics UC, who is currently participating in three international experiments on particles.
