Symposium F – Synchrotron Radiation in Material Science

http://sbpmat.org.br/14encontro/authors/?lang=en

Symposium F – Synchrotron Radiation in Material Science will be devoted to recent advances in Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) techniques associated to synchrotron X-ray sources and their applications to physics, chemistry and material science.

Confirmed speakers:

Prof Antonio José Roque da Silva, CNPEM – LNLS, Campinas, Brasil,
SIRIUS: The Brazilian 4th Generation Synchrotron Source: Updates and Perspectives.

Dr Valérie Briois, Synchrotron SOLEIL, Gif-sur-Yvette, France,
Operando Study of Catalysts Using Time-Resolved Quick EXAFS Spectroscopy at SOLEIL: Methods and Results.

Prof Karim Dahmouche, UFRJ, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil,
Potentialities of SAXS to Correlate Nanostructure and Properties of Polymer-based Hybrid Nanocomposites for Technological Applications.

Prof Valmor R Mastelaro, IFSC/USP, São Carlos, Brasil,
XAS Spectroscopy Studies of Ferroelectric Ceramics, Glass and Nanostructured Oxide Materials.

Prof Carlos Giles, UNICAMP, Campinas, Brasil
Exploring time resolved X-ray diffraction techniques for the study of sub-nanosecond dynamics in magnetic materials.

This interdisciplinary meeting intends to bring together scientists using synchrotron radiation and those willing to learn about the synchrotron and their specific experimental techniques. Synchrotron radiation techniques have increasing impact on the characterisation of advanced materials owing to higher resolution but also because of the time-resolved and in situ or operandocapabilities.

A wide range of materials and topics will be covered using SAXSXAS and XRD techniques:

·         Nanomaterials and nanostructures

·         Glass, ceramics and oxide materials

·         Nanocomposites and bio materials

·         Sol-gel processes

·         Catalysis with operando/in situ approach

·         Kinetics and in situ reactivity

Furthermore, the symposium will also be the occasion to present to the Brazilian material science community, the 4th generation synchrotron source SIRIUS, which is under construction in Campinas (Brazil) and promises even higher brilliance and coherence with advanced characteristics and techniques.

Symposium organisers:

·         Dr Florian E P Meneau (CNPEM – LNLS)

·         Prof Aldo F Craievich (USP)

·         Prof Celso V Santilli (IQ/UNESP)

·         Dr Helio C N Tolentino (CNPEM – LNLS).
