Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to ask you to identify top undergraduate students in your institution that might be interested in doing research for 8-10 weeks over the summer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Rochester.

We have a very exciting Summer Research Fellowship program designed to provide outstanding undergraduates in Chemistry from all over the world the opportunity to conduct first class summer research at a top university in the US.

The program is meant for students that intend to enter a Ph.D. program in any area of Chemistry in the Fall of 2017.  While there is some flexibility on the starting date, typically students start mid May/early June. The fellowship includes a monthly stipend of $2000 USD and a contribution toward travel expenses of up to $1000. The stipend is meant to cover living expenses and any required health insurance. The University’s International Student Office will assist each student in securing on-campus housing and a US Visa for the summer. We believe this program will provide an excellent opportunity for students to accomplish cutting-edge summer research in a unique University environment. In addition, the city of Rochester, New York offers an outstanding array of cultural activities throughout the summer that will enhance the experience of any visiting student. Because the program is highly competitive, we ask that you only refer students that show outstanding promise for advanced research.

We have constructed an online form for students to apply. The link is:

Please forward this information and link to some of your top undergraduate students.  Importantly, note that for full consideration all application materials and recommendation letters should be sent by February 22, 2016.

Additional information about this program can be found at http://www.chem.rochester.edu/undergrad/international_summer_fellowship.php

Of course, let me know if you have any questions about the program.

Sincerely,
Ignacio
