The Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) of the International Council for Science (ICSU) is pleased to circulate the call for papers for the upcoming ICSU-WDS LA&C Scientific Data Management Workshop to be held in Rio de Janeiro on 17-18 April 2018
The Latin America and the Caribbean Scientific Data Management Workshop convened by the World Data System (WDS) will discuss data management best practices for data repositories located throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. It will map initiatives that are either under way or in the process of being developed, their strengths and limitations, and new opportunities for collaboration. In addition, future trends and perspectives for scientific data systems, as well as criteria and standards for certification of data repositories, will be discussed.
The workshop is sponsored by ICSU-WDS, the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), the Museum of Tomorrow, the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and the ICSU Regional Office for Latin America and Caribbean with the support of National Laboratory of Scientific Computation (LNCC), the Brazilian National Research and Education Network (RNP), and the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT).

Submission of papers:
We invite specialists and scientists currently involved in data management initiatives for scientific and technological research in Latin American and the Caribbean region to present their experiences. Those interested in presenting their work should submit an abstract accompanied by a short bio no later than 26 January 2018 using this online form
