New research finds that the virus that causes coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) is stable for several hours or days on aerosols and surfaces.Scientists found that severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) coronavirus 2 was aerosol detectable for up to three hours, up to four hours in copper, up to 24 hours in cardboard, and up to two or three days in plastic and stainless steel.
