CBGP is seeking for a new Group Leader to cover one of the following research areas:

  • Genomic Assisted Breeding
  • Computational Structural Biology
  • Synthetic and Systems Biology

We are looking for a highly motivated and productive scientist at Junior level to initiate a recognized research group into the one of mentioned areas.

The expectation is that the candidate will be successful in grant applications for National, ERC and/or EU project calls and also to develop new synergies within other CBGP groups (http://www.cbgp.upm.es/). The main criteria for selection will be scientific excellence, CV, research impact and future projection.

The CBGP offers 4 years of contract at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level. CBGP offers a competitive negotiable salary that will depend on qualifications of the selected candidate. This position is regulated by Spanish legislation and regulations under a full‐time contract, having all the benefits of the Spanish Social Security system covering sickness, maternity/paternity leaves and injuries at work.

CBGP will provide a partially equipped laboratory, individual office, and funds to cover the salaries of one PhD student (4-year term), one scientist at the postdoctoral level (3-year term), and negotiable start-up financial support up to 40-60 k€.

Position requirements, application procedure and deadline

Junior Group Leader candidates should have less than 10 years of postdoctoral experience. Applications have to include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research, and three recommendation letters with contact details. In addition, the applicant should submit a brief research planning (no longer than 3-4 pages) along with a brief description of singular equipment needed to carry out the proposed research.
