Dr. Gerardus ' t Hooft, Premio Nobel Prize in physics 1999, visit the Faculty of Sciences
It will be a busy schedule of activities from Monday 11 until Thursday, December 14.
The Nobel Prize in physics, in 1999, Dr. Gerardus ' t Hooft will visit the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile between Monday 11-Thursday, December 14, period in which held a series of activities with academics, University students, teachers of schools, school and community Campus Juan Gómez Millas, in addition to other powers and social organizations of the municipality of Macul Ñuñoa and authorities.
On the occasion of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Sciences visited us in December 2015 seven Nobel prizes and two winners of the Fields Medal. These were the Dr. George SmootNobel Prize in Physics 2006; Dr. Harald zur HausenNobel Prize of Biology 2008; Dr. Martin Chalfie, Nobel Prize in chemistry 2008; DRA. ADA YonathNobel Prize of chemistry 2009; Dr. Bruce Alan BeutlerNobel Prize in medicine and Physiology, 2011; Dr. John GurdonNobel Prize of biology 2012; Dr. William MoernerNobel Prize of chemistry 2014; Dr. Efim Zelmanov, Medal Fields 1994 and Dr. Cédric Villani, Medal Fields 2010.
It was considered among our guests Dr. Gerardus ' t Hooft but force majeure prevented to accompany the delegation that visited us two years ago. For this reason, the prominent Dutch scientist comes next week to our country, specifically to the Faculty of Sciences to conduct a series of lectures and meetings open with physicists and mathematicians and the community of Campus Juan Gómez Millas. In this last event, he will share with Dr. Humberto Maturana and the national singer Anita Tijoux to talk about science, innovation and artistic creation in an act that has been called "Discussion of John"that it will be moderated by the journalist Soledad Onetto, and that it will develop at 10:00 of Wednesday, December 13 in the Central square of our Campus.
Dr. Gerardus ' t Hooft also recorded one capsule for CNN-CHILE counting his research in an interview which will be conducted by the academic in the Department of mathematics, Dr. Nicolás Libedisnky Silva, one of the managers of his coming.
Like his predecessors, Dr. Hooft will receive the distinction "Doctor Honoris cancellations" in a ceremony that will be presided over by the Rector of the University of Chile, Dr. Ennio Vivaldi Véjar, at noon on Thursday, December 14, at the Aula Magna of our unit Academic.
