Southern School of Biophysic Valparaíso, Chile 2019
Recovering a long tradition of Biophysics in Chile courses, interdisciplinary centre with the generous support of the University of Chicago and sponsored by the Universidad de Valparaiso Valparaíso Neurosciences (CINV) is organizing school of Biophysics the South scheduled for January 7 12, 2019. The school is addressed to students of postgraduate and postdoctoral fellow from Chile and other countries (with a focus on Latin American countries). No previous experience is required, but applicants must document the potential impact of this course in their theses or post-doctoral work. Mainly aimed at students of PhD, the school will also accept requests for outstanding young researchers and postdoctoral fellows. All students will receive a grant for food, accommodation and tickets.
This course is intensive, with conferences morning to discuss current approaches in the investigation of ion channels, with an emphasis on the structure-function relationship of conveyors, and Ionic channels modeling using molecular dynamics and fluorescence techniques used in the investigation of ion channels. These lectures will be followed by critical discussions of seminal articles where an active participation of the attendees are expected. The rest of the day will be devoted to laboratory work where students will receive training in electrophysiology, microscopy cionfocal, "Voltage and Patch-Clamp Fluorometry", luminescence resonance energy transfer, processing of images and molecular biology. He is expected that each student, depending on individual interests, choose two or three of these themes. A body of 18 researchers from Chile (9) and abroad (9) will contribute to the lectures and lab activities.
For more details, see the program.
Registration closes November 15, 2018 and requires curriculum vitae and a brief letter justifying their interest in the course and potential impact on her dissertation or postdoctoral work.
